You may know that Einstein had input on this subject—He said:
"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
Frustrated with your weight?... You join a gym and get on with some reasonable and prudent changes (in diet and exercise) until you see the fat melting away…. Frustrated with your love life… You get a new haircut, maybe some new clothes and jump head first into the world of speed dating or maybe your join groups that afford you the chance to meet new people… You see… Frustration usually leads to action… New actions lead to different outcomes… And assuming you take the right actions, the results you get are going to be positive…. And so, I welcome frustration! In fact it’s one of the traits I look for in my candidates….
I’m almost looking for the developers who are frustrated with the way things are going… Frustrated with the types of projects they’re working on. Frustrated with technology innovations they’re missing out on…. And finally, perhaps frustrated with salary increases or promotions they should be seeing in their current company…. Because I know they’re the ones who are most likely to get off their backside and actually do something about it… Without frustration, people tend not to act…. No new plans, no new actions and of course no new –different & positive outcome. If you’re frustrated with the results you’re getting in your career… Embrace it!
